Welcome to Aveley Allotment Association, a self-managed allotment site located in Aveley, Thurrock.
Our association was founded with the goal of providing affordable and accessible land to local residents who are passionate about gardening and growing their own produce. We’re a diverse group of people from different backgrounds and cultures, united by our love for gardening and our desire to build a strong and supportive community.
Our allotment site consists of over 50 plots of various sizes, each with its own unique features and charm. We strive to maintain a clean and well-maintained site that is both beautiful and functional, and we encourage our members to use environmentally sustainable gardening practices.
As a self-managed association, we rely on the active participation and involvement of our members to keep our site running smoothly. We hold regular meetings and events, where members can share their knowledge and experience, exchange ideas, and socialize with one another.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a beginner, there’s a place for you at Aveley Allotment Association. We welcome new members to join our community and experience the joy of growing your own food and being a part of a supportive and caring community.

Why do I want an allotment?
There are many good reasons to get an allotment
Whether you are interested in gardening, growing, cooking or indeed eating, tending an allotment is ideal. You can grow a range of fruits, vegetables and herbs for the kitchen, and even grow ornamental plants for a productive and attractive plot.

The benefits of growing your own fruit and vegetables in an allotment setting are many. If you decide to take on a plot you can enjoy the many rewards that they bring, including:
- a consistent source of year-round food
- knowledge of what goes into the soil and on your crops
- an ability to grow and eat crops to your taste
- social interaction with like-minded growers
- an excellent means of keeping fit
